Fascinating Ladies

About Us

At first, it seemed a strange combination of voices. Catherine is a musical theatre performer, while Kelley has a folk/roots background. Allison studied classical music and has predominantly choral singing experience. Perhaps it is because of this diversity of talent, this melding of musical worlds, that has Fascinating Ladies captivating audiences.

Fascinating Ladies is a special project that grew from a small one-hour show for seniors, into a series of shows, including a full two-hour Fascinating Ladies, A Fascinating Ladies Christmas, and coming soon- Fascinating Maritime Ladies.

In 2018, Young at Heart Musical Theatre for Seniors (yahtheatre.com) was looking for a show for their tour to seniors’ facilities. Catherine created a revue show using backing tracks created by musician Sean Ferris from an earlier version of Fascinating Ladies, originally conceived in partnership with Julain Molnar. This new one-hour revue show would tour to over 30 venues across PEI in the spring of 2018.

Catherine had been wanting to work with Kelley Mooney for some time. Though she didn’t know her personally, she was very impressed by her amazing and versatile voice. Kelley could sing folk, country, R&B and pop with ease. What Kelley had never done before was perform in a musical revue show. When Catherine approached her, it was an unequivocal “yes!”Kelley mentioned another singer who had recently sung backups for the CD launch of her Christmas album, “Caroling”. After an impressive audition, Allison Kelly was hired.

For the Young at Heart tour they hired another performer, Suzanne Wilkie. The show went over so well, that they were asked to put on a full length show at the Victoria Playhouse, PEI.

Catherine, Kelley and Allison worked on new material, with Kelley playing keys, guitar, banjitar, and Allison playing ukulele. Catherine added some choreography, and Fascinating Ladies was born.

We look forward to entertaining you!
